About US
Who we are
Seattle Sitaara is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2024 in Seattle, Washington. We are dedicated to preserving and promoting Indian classical dance while creating meaningful artistic, educational, and leadership opportunities for youth and young adults.
By proudly serving the Greater Seattle and Eastside community, Seattle Sitaara works at the intersection of culture, creativity, and community engagement. Through our programs and partnerships, we create accessible platforms to support emerging artists and promote cultural appreciation.
What we do
Seattle Sitaara advances Indian classical arts through performance, education, and community engagement. Our work includes:
Producing cultural events and performance opportunities
Offering workshops, mentorship, and educational programming
Supporting youth leadership and nonprofit engagement
Partnering with local cultural organizations and community groups
While rooted in the Pacific Northwest, our programming also connects dancers and audiences nationwide, broadening access to and appreciation of Indian classical dance.
Our WORK
Since 2024, we have engaged hundreds of dancers, volunteers, and audience members while building accessible, student-led cultural programming both nationally and regionally in the Greater Seattle and Eastside community and beyond.
Our values
-
We strive to create an event and competition environment where dancers are treated with the care, respect, and professionalism they deserve.
-
We aim to cultivate deeper appreciation within and beyond our community by curating an experience that educates and honors the tradition and art form in a contemporary setting.
-
We believe in the power of connection. We seek to strengthen ties with our supporters, organizations in need, and beyond to create sustained impact beyond show day.
Our commitment
Seattle Sitaara is committed to responsible stewardship, financial transparency, and long-term impact. All of our work is guided by a deep respect for cultural tradition and a belief in the power of the arts to strengthen communities.
